I thought I would do my first post as a review on Giorgio Armani's luminous silk foundation.
This may not be a surprise to you as it has been raved about by many beauty fanatics including Kim Kardashian herself. I started using this product about two years ago when a lady cornered me in John Lewis and gave me a sample to trial and I was instantly in love. It's been the only foundation I have liked enough to re-buy.
The packaging is ok.. a bit plain but it does look quite classy with a shiny black lid and nice shaped bottle (which is glass rather than plastic.) The bottle doesn't really give much information away but it does come with an instruction booklet which provides more detail about the foundation and the best ways to apply it.
After having tried an array of other brands foundations including MAC, Bobbi Brown, Chanel, Dior.. (and the list goes on), I had never really found a foundation that I really liked. However, when I began using Armani's wondrous foundation I was very pleasantly surprised. It retails at £34.50 which some would say is a bit more expensive than the average foundation, however, it lasts a really long time so it is worth splurging out that little bit more. After all, we do have to pay a bit more to make our skin look and feel fantastic!
The luminous silk foundation sells in ten different tones so I would advise to go to a shop such as John Lewis and find the correct colour (there's nothing worse than looking like an Umpa-Lumpa because you couldn't get out of bed and thought ordering online was a good idea - we've all been there!)
The main benefit to this foundation is that it photographs beautifully so there is no worrying that on a night out with the girls your face will be shining in all of the pics. It leaves your skin looking natural and doesn't give you that caked, layered look! The consistency is quite thin compared to some I have tried in the past but I have found with some foundations that they have been to thick and left your face feeling dried out or they have made your skin feel and look oily - however it has not been the case with this foundation as it gives you a natural look and it feels like it says on the bottle - silky to touch. Another thing I love about this foundation is that it actually smells how foundation should - none of that granny perfume scent that you often get with Yves St Laurent products... you want people to be smelling your perfume not your face!
